Monday Inspiration
2nd birthday planning, snack plates and silver wear.
I’m going to start a new series here, where on Monday’s I share a little of what is inspiring me for the week ahead. There will likely be some pillars - style, food, weekly creativity, but more so I’m going to use it as a bit of visual goal setting for myself. A peek into how I visually inspire myself. So without further ado, the first installment of Monday Inspiration.
Feeding myself at lunchtime recently has felt particularly hard - so this week I’m going in with intention, and inspiration. Instead of making a meal - I’m planning to execute balanced snack plates inspired by the above. No cooking, only assembly required is my kind of midday meal. Bonus points because this is pretty much how my kids eat everyday, so I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to figure out I should just be doing the same for myself… but I think it’s going to make feeding myself a proper midday meal a lot easier, and hopefully avoid an afternoon energy crash.
Silver bud vases are on my mind. Specifically on the Etsy/eBay hunt for a tulip style one, but any of the above are stunning. Imagining this for when my kids pick me random flowers, holding sprigs of leftover herbs on the kitchen bench, or when a bunch of blooms is coming to its end but there are still one or two holding on that little bit longer.
Lilah’s second birthday is coming up, and our girl is duck crazy (they are called ‘kakas’, for anyone wondering) so naturally I have to lean into the cutest theme ever - Ford’s second birthday was koala themed, so only fitting we stick with an animal. My goal is to take it slow and steady with some DIY decor, instead of panic ordering everything on Amazon. I think it will make it feel that little bit more special! Both of these outfits are beyond adorable, so I think I’m going to be on the hunt for a vintage duck inspired dress for her too.
I was going through a bit of a maximalist fashion moment for a minute - but currently I’m preferring a more pared back look and feel. The vibe is effortless, touches of vintage, comfortable and varied textures. Think worn-in denim, a cardigan that could have been your grandma’s, flannels stolen from your hubby tied nonchalantly around the waist and really good basics to tie it all together.
A friend of mine has asked me to paint some art for her boutique, and I am both honored and SO excited. I am by no means an artist, but I do love to paint. I never want to copy other artists work, but I do like to collect colour tones, ideas and styles to draw inspiration from before I get started. Collaging all different types of art like this gives me a good idea of the ~sort~ of piece I’d like to create, while still feeling original and I get to have fun experimenting.
